Our History In August 2004 Voula Zacharias visited Uganda on a missions outreach. As part of a YWAM Family Ministries team. She taught in seminars on counselling skills for community leaders, youth, pastors and carers. During her time there Voula was impacted by both the great need in the various communities, and the possibilities that existed to become involved in helping meet the need. It started when she met children who had lost both parents through HIV/AIDS, and saw the squalor they were forced to live in, discovered their opportunity for education was non-existent, and their future was at best extremely bleak. During her time there Voula was impacted by both the great need in the various communities, and the possibilities that existed to become involved in helping meet the need. Upon returning to Australia Voula founded the non-government organisation (NGO) registered as International Support Aid (ISA) and following on founded CARE4Kids (ISA) UGANDA registered as a Community Based Organisation and as a Foreign NGO in The Republic of Uganda. In the few short years since ISA was registered, it has grown, not necessarily in size as an organisation, but more importantly in the level of impact it has on the need in Uganda. Since that first visit just over 3 years ago, the pace at which things have moved has been astounding. CARE4Kids (ISA) UGANDA was started with very little – except a strong commitment to make a difference. ISA was able to rent a small facility and within no time it was overflowing. We soon recognised that the key to our work needed to be providing a future not just a home for today. ISA has made a difference to the lives of hundreds of children, provided communities with sustainable development projects, supplied materials and provisions, supported numerous local schools, clinics, local NGO's, Children's homes and pastors. ISA has also been able to facilitate the supply of computers and training to improve communication and future employment opportunities. In many ways so much has happened in a few short years, but there is still so much more to do. So many more orphans who need to be helped, so many more communities who need to discover hope, and so many who need to know that there is a heavenly Father who cares for them and longs to be a father to the fatherless and provide homes for the homeless.
